Antoaneta Stefanova has gone to pursue the leader

151011_stefanova.jpgFormer world champion Antoaneta Stefanova was the first European chess player who could challenge the leader of the tournament – Zhao Xue. In the sixth round the Bulgarian scored her third win in Nalchik, beating Batuyag Munguntuul. However, it won’t be so easy to catch up with going very confidently Chinese, because in this round, Zhao won for the sixth time, now over Zhu Chen from Qatar.

After earning 4 points, Stefanova shares the 2 and 3 places with Ju Wenjun. Chinese chess player received the worse position in the game against Alexandra Kosteniuk. Russian player finally managed to stop the chain of defeats. In this game she owned the initiative and had good chances to win.

One more game ended effectively today: Russian player Ekaterina Kovalevskaya with white defeated Viktorija Cmilyte from Lithuania. Russian Alisa Galliamova and Tatiana Kosintseva, ukrainian Kateryna Lahno and Nadezhda Kosintseva from Russia finished their games in a draw.

On Sunday, October 16, in the sixth round the following games will take place: Zhao Xue – Kovalevskaya, Ju Wenjun – Galliamova, Stefanova – Lahno, N.Kosintseva – Zhu Chen, T.Kosintseva – Munguntuul Batkhuyag, Cmilyte – Kosteniuk.
