Chinese sportswomen try to rush ahead

101011_ju.jpgTwo chess players from China - Zhao Xue and Ju Wenjun – each won two victories in two initial rounds of the stage of women’s chess grand-prix FIDE which is being held in Nalchik (Russia, Kabardino-Balkaria). On Monday, October 10, Zhao Xue with black pieces defeated Alexandra Kosteniuk from Russia. This game ended the first in the second round: former world champion didn’t play in a best way in the opening and rather soon got losing position. Ju Wenjun defeated Antoaneta Stefanova from Bulgaria. On the post match press conference Bulgarian chess player said she had blundered almost everything in this game. But even in the endgame there were some good opportunities to end the game in a draw.

In four other games the winner was not indicated. Kovalevskaya and T.Kosintseva, Cmilyte (Lithuania) and N.Kosintseva (Russia), Galliamova (Russia) and  Munguntuul Batkhuyag (Mongolia) ended their games in a draw.

So, after two rounds Ju Wenjun and Zhao Xue have 2 points each. Six sportswomen have one point less: Munguntuul Batkhuyag, Lahno, Kovalevskaya, T.Kosintseva, Galliamova and Kosteniuk.

Games of the 3rd round of FIDE Grand prix in Nalchik will take place on Tuesday, on October, 11th.
